Find us at Curiosities!

I'm thrilled to share the upcoming grand opening of Curiosities, a wonderfully eclectic boutique in the West Portal neighborhood of San Francisco.

Proprietors Karrie Finkel, and sister, Tina Mulligan, have been in the vintage/antiques business for more than 26 years. They've teamed up to open Curiosities, a very special shop that has a unique blend of old and new.

You can tickle your fancy at Curiosities with a wide selection of decorative accessories, Asian antiques, fine sterling silver, vintage garden pieces, fine vintage and designer replica jewelry, eclectic collectibles,  gifts and more.

One of the most exciting things I have to share is that you'll be able to find some of Paris Hotel Boutique's pieces at Curiosities. I've been a friend of Karrie's since my early days in the antiques business, and am honored to have some of my goodies available at this fine boutique! Please pay a visit if in the neighborhood.

The grand opening is October 1st.

Quirky Vintage Images

Hope you're enjoying your long holiday weekend!

I was just perusing one of my favorite sites, Retronaut, an English based website with vintage photos, many leaving you think,  "what the heck?"

Gay Pride 1974

Retronaut is a blog created by Chris Wild, a former museum curator who has used photos from museums and other collections as well as material contributed by visitors."Rather than nostalgia or folly, the aim is enlightenment, wonder and the pleasure of weirdness," The Guardian newspaper of London remarked about the website in 2010.

The site is filled with interesting photos, and not just of celebrities.

1899- Los Angeles' first telephone pay station

Alfred Hitchcock wearing a Beatle wig - 1964

black cat stockings

The office of price control fighting - 1945

Albert Einstein on the beach - 1939

Check out Retronaut here. You may lose a couple of hours of your day there!

Happy Monday & Heads Up!

I'm so excited to share our upcoming new arrivals to be unveiled tomorrow!

I recently attended an exclusive estate sale in San Francisco. It was beyond anything I've ever seen. It was the home of a former antique dealer who collected the most unusual and exquisite pieces. There were so many items--it was overwhelming.

From mirrors to 19th century listed artist paintings, the house was filled to the brim!

This bed (above) is an 18th century Dutch bed. Handpainted and quite unusual.

Sterling silver filled the tables of this home. I've never seen so much in my life. This photo is just a small portion of the hundreds of pieces, some which will be featured at my sale tomorrow.

More items; candlestick collections, inkwell collections, weights, clocks, you name it!

So be sure and visit our shop tomorrow at 8:00 am PST/11:00 am EST...See you then and have a lovely week!

Just in - Pretty in Pink!

I fell in love with these Murano caged pendant lamps when I saw them. The prettiest shade of pink. Wouldn't they look lovely clustered over a table or in your favorite room?

They date to the mid-1950s and are sold as a set of three. You can get more info and purchase here!

New Arrivals at Paris Hotel Boutique!

Today is the day! Over 60 new arrivals at Paris Hotel Boutique! Click here to go shopping...

Below are some of my favorite pieces...

I adore this Victorian painting of a gentleman smoking a cigarette. So unusual to see just his hands.

An English enamel 9 carat mourning  locket...love that it says, "Regard. "

This was a rare find. A tablecloth and seven napkins from the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

How pretty is the pink on these vintage Italian Murano lamps?

I bought this for myself and then decided to sell it. Such a rare and beautiful Victorian bracelet --the heart is genuine tortoise shell with silver overlay. The chain is Gutta Percha. Love.

This trophy stands over 15" tall! I love the engraving...Utah State Fair, Candy Company Display!! Wouldn't it be great for flowers?

I always gravitate toward ladies, whether in portraits or statues. I fell in love with this old bust.

Can you judge a book by it's cover? Yes! I love everything about this book; the font and of course, it's pink and black!

I'm always drawn to the Art Deco era and love this old blue topaz pendant...

I've seen a lot of hotel silver in my time, but never a punch ladle!

Oh so pretty, a large silverplate locket with an enamel rose.

This is the largest dresser tray I've ever seen --it's French, of course, and filled with mother of pearl shells. So pretty in person.

I can't get enough of aqua and turquoise. This extremely large Italian murano decanter is the prettiest shade of blue!
