Gasp!!

When I stumbled upon the above photo on Pinterest, I nearly fell out of my seat. This is the Fox  Theatre that once existed on Market Street in San Francisco.

The Fox Theatre was a 4,651 seat movie palace. Can you imagine? A movie palace.

Diamond Horseshoe Promenade, oh my...

Note the shell-shaped seats in the Women's Cosmetic Lounge...

The Fox was closed from October 20, 1932 to April 1, 1933 due to financial difficulties. It reopened in the 1950s for some screenings and organ concerts. On February 16, 1963, the theater closed and was later demolished.

Now it's replaced with a hideous looking building. So sad. A bygone era.
